Yes. We continue offering summer lessons in all of our regular locations, including New York City, Scarsdale, Rye, and Rye Brook, NY; Greenwich, CT; Miami and Palm Beach, FL; and Los Angeles, CA. During the summer months, we also provide sessions in the Hamptons.
Within The Alexander Reading Method Program at Reading In PreSchool, children work toward structured grade-level benchmarks designed to strengthen reading, writing, spelling, and overall confidence as they grow. These milestones include:
- Nursery: Early development of fine motor skills, along with introduction to letter recognition, phonics sounds, and writing letters when readiness allows.
- PreK Year One: Reinforces Nursery learning goals while expanding focus on letter formation, recognition, and phonics awareness.
- PreK Year Two: Focuses on letter writing proficiency, Level 1 readers, blending skills, and mastery of the first 60 words, including 40 common sight words that cannot be decoded phonetically.
- Kindergarten: Progresses through Levels 2 and 3 prior to 1st grade, with additional work in spelling and sentence writing for children who are prepared.
- 1st Grade: Develops skills through Levels 4 and 5 while improving spelling and writing abilities and preparing for chapter book reading in 2nd grade.
- 2nd Grade: Builds fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary using age-appropriate chapter books, while also strengthening spelling and paragraph writing in preparation for 3rd grade.
The aim is to help children remain 6 to 12 months ahead academically so they feel confident, capable, and ready for increasingly challenging reading expectations in future grades.
We require at least two sessions weekly for each student. Lessons may be scheduled for 30 minutes or longer depending on the child’s learning needs and attention span.
Yes. We reserve your child’s placement for the school year, and billing is handled monthly. You may pause at any time without additional charges, but once a spot is released, the original teacher or time slot may no longer be available.
