Ms. Tess
Ms. Tess holds a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a Master's degree in Special Education from The City College of New York. She is a certified special educator for all grade levels and has extensive training in the science of reading, including certifications as an Acadience Mentor and in the AIMS Pathway Science of Reading for K–6 literacy instruction.
For the past two years, Ms. Tess has worked closely with children ages 4–7, supporting early learners as they build the foundational skills needed for reading success. She has extensive training in SPIRE, Wilson Foundations, Heggerty Phonics, and is now fully trained in The Alexander Reading Method, allowing her to teach foundational skills through developmentally appropriate, play‑based lessons that keep children curious, confident, and excited to learn.
Ms. Tess blends play‑based learning with engaging, hands‑on activities that meet each child right where they are. She takes time to truly understand her students—their strengths, interests, and what helps them feel successful—so she can tailor instruction to their unique learning styles.
Most importantly, Ms. Tess wants every child to feel proud of themselves as readers. She celebrates small wins, nurtures confidence, and creates a warm, supportive environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn. She believes wholeheartedly that every child can become a successful reader and is dedicated to helping them reach their fullest potential.
